Tasting note

Our 2021 Tweedies Gully Estate Barossa Valley Shiraz has hints of delicious plum and an elegance of dark fruit with added notes of spice and slight pepper. This wine has a nice balance of subtle oak and soft tannins with great structure.

Vineyard

Nestled in the picturesque Barossa Valley Ranges, a hidden gem surrounded by lush trees and vibrant wildlife. Handcrafted wines that perfectly reflect the rich terroir and unique microclimate of the region. Planted on the best parcels of land on the property in 1994 to ensure a consistent harvest annually.

Vintage

The 2021 vintage had favourable conditions in spring which provided ideal flowering and fruit set. Summer was relatively mild providing optimal growing conditions. Harvest began late in March and went well into late April, giving rich and balanced flavours and colour.

Winemaking

Our fruit is picked at the optimum time to allow it to fully ripen, achieving the perfect balance of alcohol, acid and fruit before it is harvested, gently crushed and open fermented. It is then allowed to settle in a combination of new and old oak both French and American.

Technical Details

We have done all the work so the wine is ready to drink now, or if you can resist the temptation it will age nicely for a further 10 years.

Reviews

Richly fruited and complex, the wine shows dark fruit intensity, mixed spice, cured meat, and roasted nut aromas on the nose. The palate displays excellent weight and plump mouthfeel, beautifully supported by fleshy texture and silky tannins, finishing robust and flavoursome. At its best: now to 2035.

Sam Kim – Wine Orbit

The colour here is an almost impenetrable dark red-black, giving you an idea of what you’re about to confront. It’s from this very good year and displays loads of ripe fruit with a slightly earthy savoury element and even hints of charcuterie. The palate displays a dark chocolatey mocha and red fruit influence on the darker fruit components. There’s a nice floral lift on the nose while the palate remains seamless and neatly integrated.

Score: 94/100
Cellar: 10 years
